Operating Your Gas & Oil Heating System During the Warmer Months
As the weather becomes warmer and the need for heating reduces, we would like to remind all tenants of the importance of operating their gas or oil-fired heating system for a short period on a regular basis.
To help maintain the system in good working order, we recommend running your heating for approximately 15 minutes at least once every fortnight throughout the spring and summer months.
Regular operation helps to:
• Prevent pumps, motorised valves and other moving components from becoming stiff or seizing due to prolonged inactivity.
• Maintain the circulation of water within the heating system.
• Reduce the likelihood of component deterioration and unexpected breakdowns when heating is required again.
• Help identify any developing faults before the start of the colder season.
• Support the continued efficiency and reliability of the boiler and heating controls.
Heating systems that remain unused for extended periods can be more prone to mechanical issues, including seized pumps and valves, which may result in costly repairs, disruption and delays in restoring heating and hot water when temperatures begin to fall.
When carrying out this routine check, please ensure your thermostat is turned up sufficiently for the boiler and heating system to operate. If you notice any leaks, unusual noises, fault codes or other concerns, please report them to our Property Management Team promptly.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to maintain your home's heating system and reduce the risk of avoidable maintenance issues.
